MAHARASHTRA'S 05 JYOTIRLINGAS  TRAVEL GUIDE

MAHARASHTRA JYOTIRLINGA YATRA

Out of the 12 Jyotirlingas, 5 are located in Maharashtra. These are Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga in Nasik, Bhimshankar Jyotirlinga in Pune, Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga near Aurangabad, Aundha Nagnath Temple in Hingoli and Parli Vaijnath Jyotirlinga in Beed.

Maharashtra Jyotirlinga Temples

1. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlnga, Nashik

Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga was the grandest temple on our list. Lord Shiva, Parvati, Lakshmi, and Saraswati are all said to reside here, according to the temple priest.

The Brahmagiri, Nilagiri, and Kalagiri hills surround the shrine. At the temple, Shiv, Vishnu, and Brahma are represented by three lingas (a recognisable form of Shiv). The temple tank, known as Amritavarshini (98 ft), is 28 m (92 ft) by 30 m in size.

2. Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, Pune

The Bhimshankar Jyotirlinga in Pune, is located on the banks of the river Bhima. The temple, which was surrounded by natural beauty, was a delight for the senses, and a dip in the holy Bhima brought us spiritual serenity.

3. Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, Aurangabad

The Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, which is 20 km from Daulatabad, close to Aurangabad in Maharashtra, and is situated on the banks of an ancient pond named "Shivalay."

The temple is a significant pilgrimage place (linga of light) in the Shaiva style of Hinduism since it is regarded as the 12th or final Jyotirlinga. Nearly a km separates this pilgrimage destination from Ellora (formerly known as Verul), home to the Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage destination. It is situated around 300 kilometres (190 miles) east-northeast of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and about 30 kilometres (19 miles) north-west of Aurangabad.

The ParliVaijnath Jyotirlinga, which is in Maharashtra's Beed district and gets its name because it is surrounded by an abundance of medicinal herbs. It is a notion that touching the Lingam aids in the healing process here at ParliVaijnath temple, where Lord Shiva is known as "Vaidyanath."
